A 21-day Writing Workshop integrating Reiki & Yoga Nidra to find your way back home and the freedom to be.
Writing has always been medicine, for myself and for many others (you know who you are). But it is easy to avoid because it can be scary and intimidating. It forces us to look closely at the things we would much rather look away from. Though I’ll share a secret with you: writing is where truth fully emerges. When judgement is put aside, the creativity of our essence is able to flow freely onto the paper. Each time I feel that a new height cannot be reached in the space of my inner dialogue, I am graciously surprised. Awareness flows from my fingertips and a world blooms before me. The more this muscle is flexed, the smoother the river flows, and the more enticing it is to swim in the water. And the time for this space appears more often and the gift received ever more pleasant. Writing is an art and in it we can become alive.
There are many writing programs out there but the only person holding you accountable is you. This can make it hard to actually see a program to the end and gain the benefits of what they offer. Retreats are also a great communal space to find healing and insight but integrating those teachings into your everyday life can be challenging. This is a tangible program designed to help you bring peace to your home environment and the home within yourself. A program to honor your true expression and the freedom in allowing yourself to simply be unapologetically you. With this program, you can bring the peace with you anywhere you go. Because as they say, “home is where the heart is.” Once you find your heart, you will always have your home.
This is more than just a writing program. In the journey of coming home to your true self, you will also discover the art of surrender, energetic bliss & contentment, gain perspective on your egoic struggles and reveal true love. Through the profound simplicity of writing and relaxation, you will unveil your authentic purpose in this experience of life.
The Art of Relaxation
In the fast paced world of today, relaxation is often viewed as a luxury instead of an integral part of health and overall well-being. With the many things to do, learn, explore and accomplish, comes stress, one of the leading causes of dis-ease. While attempting to maintain the balance of our multi-leveled existence, the body overexerts itself to fix the dysfunction caused by stress, leading to injury and dissociation.
Often when faced with an obstacle in our path, the first instinct is to keep trying to push through it until it gives. This often results in a complete breakdown of the body, mind and/or spirit forcing us to stop for extended periods of time just to heal the damage. Only when we make the decision to take a step back and rest, can we recognize easier paths to maneuver around the obstacle instead of incessantly running into it. Shifting that lens takes practically no effort at all, yet results in a release of stagnation allowing more movement towards our goals and dreams.
So in order for the full depth of your inner truth to surface onto the page, this program utilizes the relaxation techniques of Reiki and Yoga Nidra to initiate a complete navigation of self-awareness.
The course begins with a Reiki session to bring the first level of emotions into awareness. Reiki is a gentle healing modality that allows us to feel the warmth of universal life force energy comfort us in her embrace. It is the essence of love and compassion without judgement or labels, helping to connect all aspects of our being to come to and live within our true selves. It opens the space for awareness and breath to find clarity and strength.
As much as we love to move, stillness is a huge aspect of finding inner peace and contentment. Reiki offers the space for movement when you feel stuck. If you are always moving, trying different directions in the quest to find “home,” you may end up more lost than when you started. Sometimes it’s best to take a pause and understand your position and the direction of your goal, to find the path of least resistance.
Yoga Nidra, also known as sleep yoga, is the very act of surrender. It is a practice of putting the body into a deep state of relaxation while laying on your back, allowing the mind to remain present through guided instructions of rotating consciousness throughout the body, breathing, awareness of sensations/feelings, image visualization, and more. In this relaxed state of sensory withdrawal and focusing on the art of listening, the practitioner becomes increasingly aware of their own inner world and areas of the body holding unnecessary strain. Throughout the session, the areas of tension and stress slowly release, allowing the body to come into a state of repair and rejuvenation. The autonomic symptoms of high anxiety such as headache, giddiness, chest pain, palpitations, sweating and abdominal pain also respond well to the practice.
Not only does Yoga Nidra go far beyond combating stressful influences and correcting the imbalances created by poor stress management, it also lends itself to “stress resistance.” Yoga Nidra provides a means of transforming tension and one can utilize it as a stepping stone to greater awareness, efficiency and achievement. One can learn to thrive on the same challenges and adversities that would lead another to the brink of mental anguish, emotional self-destruction, and physical breakdown.
We all have dreams and aspirations. Dreams give insight into our subconscious mental and emotional programming, habits, and patterns. Our dreams guide us and urge us, helping us move towards our true nature. Through a continued practice of Yoga Nidra, we can fully access our dreams and all that they offer in the manifestation of our highest being. Here, the fertile soil of the subconscious mind can be nurtured with a seed of intention to grow and expand into waking consciousness.
“Don’t think about elephants. Think about monkeys.”
Everything begins with a habit. We train ourselves through life experiences to think and act in certain ways. The more we repeat these behaviors, the more we enforce their integration into our psyche. But, when we recognize a pattern in our actions and thinking processes we are offered a choice, to continue the pattern or change it. The easiest way to break a bad habit is to form a new habit that negates the old one. This program is designed to help you break out of detrimental patterns and create new healthier habits that assist in maintaining emotional and mental equilibrium. So instead of expending energy to try to not reinforce an old habit, the energy is spent forming a more beneficial one.
We begin with a scheduled Reiki session (in person or distantly) and follow up with an initial check-in phone call to explore and expand any forthcoming thoughts, feelings, or intentions you have for the course. This information is taken into account, along with an additional survey, to create personalized Yoga Nidra recordings designed to integrate that intention and provide a still space to work through the writing prompts. Each week, a check-in phone/video call or email/messaging (if feeling introverted) will take place to assist in any blockages or confusion about what had been revealed in the week prior, or if any resistance is met in completing the 21 days.
The 21 days are separated into three categories, one per week. Each category will have a set of personalized writing prompts that are specifically designed to help you understand, accept, and ultimately move forward in a more honest and embodied self.
Week 1 delves into the Empowered Intellect. This week will help you focus on getting all the surface level struggles and challenges out into the open. And in doing so, deepening your understanding of your wants, needs, and desires. Empowered Intellect is about bringing the inner dialogue out of the mind and into a space that is tangible, giving you an outside perspective to your inner world.
Week 2 is all about the Beauty in the Breakdown. This week you will be diving a little deeper into your subconscious to understand your “programming,” or conditioning cultivated by your past experiences. By breaking down these experiences, you will begin to recognize patterns and the reasons behind your actions, responses, and thinking processes. And when you have that awareness, you are given a choice: to feed that pattern or to change it. By coming to accept your shadow aspects, you unveil the true beauty of your totally unique self.
Week 3 explores Unbound Expression. This week will help you reflect on everything that has come up and integrate these new insights into your self-expression. It is great to understand yourself in deeper ways, but how do you use that information to move forward and genuinely express the real you? By unlocking the chains that restrain you, you will finally discover what it means to be free, free to BE.
