Productive Relaxation

In the fast paced world of today, relaxation is often viewed as a luxury instead of an integral part of health and overall well-being. With the many things to do, learn, explore and accomplish, comes stress, one of the leading causes of dis-ease. Stress acts as a stimulus for anxiety, tension and related ailments such as headaches, indigestion, abdominal pain, sweating, palpitations, and chest pain.  While attempting to maintain the balance of our multi-leveled existence, the body overexerts itself to fix the dysfunction caused by stress, leading to injury and dissociation.

When faced with an obstacle in our path, the first instinct is to run at it as hard as possible until it gives. This often results in a complete breakdown of the body, mind and/or spirit forcing us to stop for extended periods of time just to heal the damage. In my experience, only when I made the decision to take a step back and rest, did I recognize easier paths to maneuver around the obstacle instead of fighting it. Shifting my own path took practically no effort at all, yet resulted in much more productivity in moving forward to where I wanted to go. Thus, an initiation into a complete navigation of self-awareness began using the tools of Reiki, Yoga Nidra, and Writing; each one exploring a deeper level into the art of relaxation.
